Shibari Lounge is a purpose-built rope and photography studio in Leigh-on-Sea, Essex, just 40 minutes from London Fenchurch Street and close to London Southend Airport. Rooted in a calm coastal setting, the Lounge supports kinbaku, shibari education, rope photography, and performance work in a considered, low-pressure environment.

Alongside the physical studio, Shibari Lounge also exists as an online learning space, offering events, education, and resources that bring the same care-led approach into people’s homes.

Workshops, intensives, and one-to-one learning in kinbaku - delivered through Shibari Lounge, guest venues, at festivals and online sessions.

Performance & modelling - Rope artist work

Rope-based performance, shibari life drawing, and photographic projects - created through self-tied work, partnered rigging, or as a rope model.

Live rope performance and durational work • Shibari life drawing and facilitated drawing sessions • Self-tied performance • Partnered rope rigging and modelling.

Photography & videography - Saku Snaps

Kink-aware photography and videography rooted in rope, performance, and embodied practice — working with individuals, collaborators, and events in a care-led, considered way.

BDSM documentation and session photography • Editorial and portrait work • Performance and movement-based imagery • Shibari-informed videography

Learning beyond the studio

Shibari Lounge is evolving into a more flexible model for ongoing learning and connection — combining in-person events with membership-based online tuition and live online sessions. This makes it possible to engage with the work from anywhere in the world, while still keeping the physical studio at the heart of the practice.
