“I attended The Futo Factory deep dive workshop back in November at Shibari Lounge run by Bex, and it was absolutely fantastic! I’m still thinking about everything we learned and I cannot wait to attend another workshop in the Beyond the Bind series.

We spent the whole day exploring all things futomomo—from playful chaos ties to detailed structural ones, aesthetic variations, and even suspendible versions. I loved how we didn’t just learn how to tie them, but also why each variation works the way it does. As someone who is super spicy, that kind of depth is perfect for the AuDHD brain—it helped me actually process the information instead of just copying patterns.

There was so much covered… how to safely close the leg and manipulate the body into position, why tighter futos are actually safer and more comfortable in suspension, how different stem placements affect posture and pressure, and how to build futos that load the thigh instead of digging into the shin (a total win for my partner). We even looked at how to prevent cuffs from tightening when weight is applied. It was super interesting to see how moving the epsilon to different places and like wise to how the body is positioned in the air changed the pressure distributed through the wraps. We even talked about sensual untying and how rope marks tell the story of tension and placement.

The workshop felt really intimate and supportive. Neither my partner nor I are super flexible or your stereotypical looking “models”, but that was never an issue. We got loads of personalised tips on adapting ties to suit our bodies (we rope switched) and it made the experience feel so inclusive and empowering.

It was a lot to take in, so I definitely recommend bringing a notebook—but it was worth every penny. If The Futo Factory comes back around, don’t even think twice. Just book it.”
